Biography

Since his debut solo recital and release of his album at the Alliance Française when he was 18, Sherwin Lee has continually pursued his passion for music in a dynamic and engaging manner. He has performed at the major venues in Singapore, such as the Esplanade, Victoria Concert Hall, Raffles Hotel Jubilee Hall, and the SMU Arts and Culture Centre. In 2016, he performed at a master class conducted by renowned piano pedagogue Edna Golandsky at the prestigious Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium at Princeton University, and also performed at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His mentors include renowned performers and educators such as Tedd Joselson, Soon Liok Kee, and music composer Tan Chan Boon. He had also been coached by renowned pianists such as Seymour Bernstein, Andre-Michel Schub, Gerald Robbins and John Bloomfield in the USA.

 

Besides holding a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy from the Singapore Management University (SMU), Sherwin was also an active performer for the SMU Piano Ensemble. He was the President of the Piano Ensemble in 2010, and Festival Director for the 2010 SMU Piano Festival. He performed for the ensemble’s debut concert in 2008, and performed annually for the SMU Piano Festival. He was also a guest performer for a fund-raising concert at the Singapore Night Festival 2016. He holds a distinction for the Licentiate of Trinity College of London (LTCL) in Piano Performance, and is currently the Music Director and Conductor for the Kampong Kapor Methodist Church Music Ensemble, and also performs regularly as an accompanist for the choirs in church.

 

Besides performing, Sherwin has extensive experience teaching music to children and teenagers both privately and in the MOE schools, and firmly believes in the transformative impact of music on one’s lives. He regularly accompanies students for their ABRSM and Higher Music Exams, and also coaches students for the ABRSM piano examinations, all of whom have regularly done well for their assessments.
